Over 80 Conservative members and supporters enjoyed a delicious meal at Sonning Golf Club with special guest speaker Lee Anderson MP and our own John Redwood MP on Friday 10 November.
Lee is the Party Deputy Chairman and the MP for Ashfield in Derbyshire. He gave an entertaining and informative speech detailing his life experience of being a Labour councillor who crossed the floor to join the Conservatives, was then selected as the local parliamentary candidate and won the seat at the 2019 General Election.
John gave the address of thanks and also took questions from members.
This wonderful event was a great success and marked Barbara Houghton's retirement as Lunch Club President. John Redwood thanked Barbara for her many years of fundraising and dedication to Wokingham Conservatives and to our Lunch Club.
She was presented with a card and bouquet from the Chairman Gregor Murray on behalf of the Association. Gregor says: "Lunch Club is a thriving mainstay of our association's social calendar. Barbara's hard work, organisation and commitment are hugely appreciated."
Jan Heard is the new Lunch Club President and she looks forward to welcoming members to the next Lunch at Sonning on 23 February with Ranil Jayawardena MP.
