Following an animal trail organised by Wokingham Borough Council, the Borough Mayor Cllr Malcolm Richards greeted the winning children in Wokingham to hand out their prizes.
Cllr Richards met the nature enthusiasts at the homebuilder’s Montague Park development to hand out certificates and gift cards for the winners of the animal trail, which took place at Buckhurst Meadows.
Prizes of One4All gift cards, provided by sponsors David Wilson Homes, were presented to the winners of three age groups: Holly Gigg (3-5), Sean Doran (6-8) and Nia Beckett (9-12), whilst Amber Gigg, Thomas Goswell, Sylvia Doran and Eloise and Oliver Baddeley were also welcomed by the Mayor for their efforts.
"The children enjoy these events which encourage them to get out in the fresh air, encourages exercise, enjoy the new meadows and have fun at the same time. We thank David Wilson for sponsoring this event’, said Cllr Richards.
The animal trail took place at Buckhurst Meadows for the duration of the school holidays, giving children a chance to explore their local area whilst partaking in an enjoyable nature activity.
Arranged by the council, each participant was encouraged to search for a variety of pictures of animals and submit their entries online, where the winners were selected at random.
Following a difficult lockdown period, the activity came at an opportune time for the younger residents at Montague Park who needed a fresh spark of fun ahead of the new academic year.
