We are proud of our beautiful, vibrant borough and the sense of community that has been so prevalent during the Coronavirus pandemic as we have all come together to support each other. Wokingham borough council is reaching out to residents and businesses across the borough to work with them to bring out a sense of identity for the area that strengthens our communities whilst attracting both new visitors and businesses to the area while helping to grow our economy
The council is working with business leaders, organisations and other public sector partners to help promote Wokingham borough as the place to live, work and visit and in turn generate jobs for residents and create more opportunities locally for better paid positions through career development.
As the coronavirus pandemic continues to affect both the economy and way of life, the council is working with specialist consultants thinkingplace to help the council maximise its potential by creating the best economic opportunities across the borough.
One aspect of this work is an exciting new project with thinkingplace to develop a place story for Wokingham borough, to help promote the area and attract business, talent and visitors.
The council is reaching out to local residents, businesses and organisations, asking for their views on what Wokingham borough means to them and what they think are its biggest attributes.
“We want to create a vision of Wokingham borough that incorporates our past, present and future and the places and the people that make it special,” said Cllr John Halsall, leader of Wokingham Borough Council.
“We want to hear from all our residents and businesses to help us create a new place story to build local pride and confidence in our great borough, and to help us market Wokingham as we reignite our economy now that lockdown restrictions continue to ease.”
“We want to hear what makes you proud about Wokingham borough, how you feel about the area and how you might like it to develop in the future.”
The council is inviting residents and businesses to attend ‘virtual’ workshops, hosted by thinkingplace to gain their insight, thoughts and knowledge to help shape a powerful new story about Wokingham borough.
They will be hosting four virtual workshops on:
Tuesday 28 July, 9am to 10.30am
Thursday 30 July, 4pm to 5.30pm
Wednesday 5 August, 2pm to 5.30pm
Tuesday 11 August, 7pm to 8.30pm
