FANTASTIC NEWS! as a direct result of our petition Wokingham Medical Centre & the NHS Berkshire West Clinical Commissioning Group have been forced to re-prioritise GP provision on-site at Burma Hills Surgery.
What does that mean? It means that, from March, there will be a new GP at Burma Hills.
Daniel Hinton says: "Thank you to you all for your support!"
This is clearly a fantastic result for Norreys residents and shows that a well organised campaign can affect change. We honestly could never have dreamed that our campaign would have resulted in such a swift and positive response.
We believe that Wokingham Medical Centre and the CCG did not expect any kick-back from what was an intentionally poorly communicated move of patients from Burma Hills to WMC. Thankfully local residents highlighted the issue and now action has been taken.
The campaign can’t stop here though. Unfortunately, it is very easy to say that GP provision will continue, but it is a lot harder to deliver. Qualified GPs, prepared to take on a sole practise are not easy to come by. We know this because Wokingham Medical Centre themselves told us so.
We will not consider this matter closed until GPs are regularly, physically located at Burma Hills.
Until a new GP is named and all Burma Hills patients have been informed of when that GP will start seeing them, face to face, we will continue our campaign.
We can’t allow this vital service be kicked into the long grass with words and no actions.
Thank you for being among the first to sign our petition. Please help us continue the campaign by sharing the petition with your local family, friends, neighbours and colleagues. Even if they aren’t personally registered at Burma Hills surgery, transferring 4,000 patients to the Wokingham Medical Centre will only stretch an already under resourced practise even further.
We will keep the pressure on until a GP starts seeing patients at Burma Hills again. Will you help us?

Unless a GP has been named and started seeing patients, the petition will be handed in to Wokingham Borough Council at its meeting of the full council in March. Please help us Save Our Surgery by sharing this petition.
