Graham represented the most northern ward in Wokingham borough containing the villages of Remenham, Ruscombe and Wargrave, now part of the Thames Ward from 2018 to 2024. During that time, he was Executive Member for Children’s Services when he expanded school capacity across 4 Wokingham secondary schools including a 6th Form level for Bohunt School. He introduced programmes to improve the Ofsted status of Children’s Services which has resulted in 2 new SEND schools being built as well as the Addington special school extension. Graham also got the admissions systems changed so that children’s progress into secondary school was sooner communicated and more easily managed with parents, guardians and schools.
Graham for 3 years represented Wokingham Borough on the Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Services appointed as Executive Member for Finance. He has also served as Chair for 7 out of 22 years as a Schools Governor and has continued since 2018 to sit on the Wargrave Parish Council.
Graham started work as a trainee Company Secretary then worked in various commercial roles, ascending from sales to Board level management. He ran International operations in the computer industry with periods living in Italy and Australia. Following a corporate career, he incubated technology companies coming into Europe. For the last 4 years he has worked for HM Government funded Innovate UK’s London partner, advising small and mid-sized businesses on scaling up, investment readiness and Internationalisation.
Graham moved to Wargrave with his wife Kaye in 1994 who was lost to cancer in 2016. They brought up 2 children who now live in Nottingham and Africa. Since 2004 Graham has been a committee member of Wargrave Village Festival and performs regularly in productions run by Wargrave Theatre including panto, Shakespeare and other plays.
