Natalie Elphicke OBE MP is the Member of Parliament for Dover & Deal. In December 2019, she was elected as the first female MP for the Dover & Deal constituency.
In Parliament, Natalie is particularly interested in the economy, jobs, trade and ports and the UK’s border security. She has served as a Parliamentary Private Secretary (Ministerial Aide) at the Ministry of Defence, MHCLG (now Department for Levelling Up and Communities) and the Department of Health and Social Care. In addition, she serves as the Vice Chair of the Ports APPG due to the importance of the importance of the border and the Port of Dover in her constituency.
As a Member of Parliament, Natalie regularly raises local issues in the House of Commons and on the national stage, in particular, healthcare, as well as road and rail issues. She is campaigning for a change in environmental law to provide additional protection for special marine sites, such as the Goodwin Sands.
Before entering Parliament Natalie was one of the country’s leading experts on housing and finance, helping to deliver real improvements to the construction industry in her role as the New Homes Quality Champion. A top nationally ranked housing and finance lawyer for nearly two decades, she also co-chaired an influential UK Government report, the Elphicke-House Report.
Natalie started life in a council house and moved to East Kent as a teenager. She was educated at a Kent grammar school and went to the University of Kent at Canterbury. She has lived in the Dover & Deal area for well over a decade.
In 2015, Natalie was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for her services to housing.
